Minutes

  • We discussed last meetings’ minutes.  No meeting was held in December.  November’s minutes were Ty moved that the meetings be approved.  Wyatt seconded the motion.  All other attendees were in favor.
  • Next meeting is scheduled for Feb 12, which is the same week as Parent Teacher Conferences, so we will change to February 5th.
  • Money slotted for technology will be used in the near future to purchase laptops for 3rd graders.
  • Why are laptops from moving students held at the district office rather than at Woodruff?  They were purchased with Woodruff Trustlands $.  Matt will ask Technology Director.  Maybe we need to use a different source of $ for laptops??
  • We discussed the need for ideas on how to use remaining $41,000.
  • Budget was reviewed item by item to try to foresee how much would be in excess.
  • We decided to poll teachers to see what they would want/need with funds.  Matt will do this for the next meeting.
  • Possibly use $ to let upper grade teachers observe other teachers within the district.
  • We motioned that we use some $ for Acadience testing/intervention to be done in a ½ day vs. intervention time everyday for a week or more.
  • We reviewed SIP data.  Behavior data was the only change - similar to last year.
  • Behavior spikes happen after lunch in all grades.  Why??
  • Could we swap the order of eating lunch and going to recess?  In other words, have recess first and then eat afterward.  Would that solve the problems of kids being “hangry” because they rush lunch to get out to play?
  • Approximately $115,000 will be available to work with for next year.
  • Book recommendation by Ty:  The Surprising Things that Motivate us by Daniel Pinkett.  The book points out that goals do motivate people to act/change….are the SIP goals motivating teachers and students to act/change in a productive way?  Or to act/change in a not-so-ideal way??
  • We want to re-think SIP goals and how to make them.
